You are invited to a first Community Meeting on Monday, January 7, 2019, regarding major renovation plans for the Community Theater at Berkeley High School.
The 6:30 p.m. meeting, to be held in the Community Theater on campus, will provide a project overview, including the scope of work and schedule. There will be an opportunity to ask questions.
There will be follow-up meetings for further input. The January 7 meeting will focus on Phase One of the planned renovations. Phase One includes seismic mitigation and strengthening to the Community Theater itself as well as the adjoining Florence Schwimley Little Theater. Additionally, the classroom wing of the building (known as the “A Building”) will undergo major renovations. These renovations will address accessibility and safety as well as improve the educational spaces that are currently used for various performing arts classes and a visual arts class.
After community input, preliminary design approval will go to the School Board in early 2019. Construction is expected to begin in the summer of 2020.
